ABOUT THE WORK
In this hilarious, action-packed romp through the music and fantasy world of 1995, Agnes’ journey to know her late sister plummets her into the sword fighting world of Dungeons and Dragons. There, Tilly and her friends slay the Dragons of exclusion and discover a world where it is okay to be exactly who you are.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES
We all want to be seen as “strong, powerful, and magical” but judgement gets in the way of that. We all struggle with our own monsters. The ugly voices that rise-up from deep inside and tell us that we are not good enough or smart enough, we are weak or weird. We believe that no one cares about us or can even see us or accept us as we truly are. So how then, can we accept ourselves? We just keep feeding the monsters and when it is too much, we turn and feed someone else’s monster just to gain a little power back.
In this play, Tilly creates a world where she and her friends can be the superhero versions of themselves and in this game, they banish those monsters, but she was never able to live in the real world in the same way. Her sister Agnes only gets to learn who her sister was by playing her D&D adventure game after her death. It is here that Agnes finally sees her sister, accepts her, and develops empathy for the struggles Tilly experienced in life.
My hope is that everyone who sees this play can be changed in some way. I hope that people will feel empowered to be who they are without the fear of judgement, and I hope that it will make people pause for just a moment before casting judgement on others.
Life is short! Love hard, play hard, be exactly who you are, even the parts people don’t get. Life is precious, don’t spend it feeding the monsters, slay them instead!
