Richard Clement
Grammy-winning American tenor Richard Clement (narrator) has performed with most of America’s major orchestras and music directors. He recently earned particular acclaim with the National Art Centre Orchestra in Ottawa in Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis under the baton of Pinchas Zukerman and for the title in Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with the North Carolina Symphony and Sacramento Choral Arts Society and Orchestra. In addition, he premiered and recorded Theofanides’s The Here and Now (nominated for a Grammy) with Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony, including performances in Atlanta and Carnegie Hall. Among the most in demand tenors for Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, invitations include the Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra and other orchestras throughout the United States. Recent engagements include a debut at the Casals Festival in San Juan Puerto Rico, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra the Cincinnati Opera and a return to the Tanglewood Music Festival for Vaughan Williams’s Serenade to Music. Mr. Clement’s opera engagements include performances with the New York City Opera, Belgium’s De Vlaamse Opera, Opera Frankfurt, the Vancouver Opera, and Glimmerglass Opera among others in operas ranging from Handel to John Adams. Mr. Clement graduated from Georgia State University and the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He is currently an associate professor of voice and artist-in-residence at Georgia State University.
